  • 1 thumb of fresh ginger root, thinly sliced
  • 46 guava leaves (fresh, or 1 tbsp dried)
  • 1 tbsp lemon verbena (fresh or dried)
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick
  • Optional: 1 tbsp hibiscus petals
  • Optional: 1 tsp turmeric root or powder

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the ginger and rinse the guava leaves and lemon verbena.
  2. Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a gentle boil in a pot.
  3. Add all core ingredients and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, add optional ingredients, and steep for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Strain the tea and pour it into a pitcher or jar.
  6. Drink warm in the morning and mid-afternoon or chill for an iced version.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients. Don’t microwave to reheat—gently warm on the stove to retain nutrients. Store unsweetened in the fridge for up to 5 days.
